UKspace is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of information provided by participants in this survey.

This survey is intended to collect business and organisational information in order to support sector analysis, policy development, industry representation, and engagement with government stakeholders.

What Information We Collect from You

This survey is designed to collect business and organisational information only, such as:

  • Company operational data
  • Financial or commercial business metrics
  • Workforce and capability information
  • Sector activity and market information
  • Strategic or industry trend data

UKspace does not intentionally collect personal data through this survey. Respondents should avoid including personal information unless strictly necessary.

Where personal data is inadvertently provided, UKspace will process it in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws.

Purpose of Processing

The information collected will be used for legitimate industry and public-interest purposes only, including:

  • Aggregated sector analysis
  • Evidence gathering for government engagement
  • Industry reporting and advocacy
  • Economic and policy analysis
  • Supporting growth and development of the UK space sector

The lawful basis for any processing of personal data associated with the survey is:

Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR – Legitimate Interests, namely supporting the representation and development of the UK space sector; and/or

Article 6(1)(e) UK GDPR – Public Task, where processing supports government policy and sector analysis activities.

Data Sharing

Survey information may be shared with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (“DSIT”) strictly in accordance with a formal data sharing agreement. DSIT will also process and manage the information in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws.

UKspace will not share survey responses with any other third parties unless:

  • required by law;
  • necessary to protect legal rights; or
  • the information has been anonymised and aggregated so that individual organisations or individuals cannot reasonably be identified.
  • Where possible, reporting outputs will be presented in aggregated or anonymised form.

Data Security

UKspace takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect survey data against:

  • unauthorised access;
  • accidental loss;
  • misuse;
  • alteration; and
  • disclosure.

Survey data will be stored securely using controlled-access systems and retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this notice and any applicable legal or contractual obligations.

International Transfers

The data we collect from you is primarily processed and stored on secure servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA). The UK Government recognizes the EEA as providing an adequate level of data protection, meaning your information is safeguarded to the same high standards required by the UK GDPR. UKspace does not intend to transfer survey data outside the EEA. If international transfers become necessary, appropriate safeguards under UK data protection law will be implemented.

Retention

Survey information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for industry analysis, reporting, audit, legal, and government engagement purposes, after which it will be securely deleted or anonymised.

Your Rights

To the extent that any personal data is processed, individuals may have rights under UK data protection law, including:

  • the right to request access to personal data;
  • the right to request correction of inaccurate data;
  • the right to request erasure in certain circumstances;
  • the right to object to processing; and
  • the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”).
