UKspace has announced Richard Brook, Chris Chaloner and Pat Wood as the first three recipients of its new Fellowships, recognising their respective contributions to UKspace, the official trade association of the UK space industry.

The Fellowships, which will be for an initial three-year term, were announced at UKspace’s annual reception on 10 December.

UKspace Executive Director, Colin Baldwin, said: “UKspace hugely values all of our colleagues from within our membership who volunteer their time to support and develop the space industry. They bring deep industry knowledge, strategic vision and institutional memory to our work – making us a truly industry-led organisation.”

“We have established UKspace Fellowships as a way to recognise those who have made a substantial contribution over a sustained period of time, and to retain that knowledge and experience for the benefit of our members and the sector. I’m delighted that Richard, Chris and Pat have accepted their nominations to become our first Fellows. They have each been longstanding supporters of UKspace, and their work has had a significant positive impact on the wider space industry in this country.”

Richard said: “I am honoured and greatly appreciative of this recognition of my involvement with the activities of UKspace. As a previous Chair of several of its committees and also its governing Council, I know just how important the work of the trade association is in advancing the interests of the UK space sector.”

Chris said: “I have been actively involved in UKspace and its predecessors (UKISC and ASTOS) since 2003 as it represents large and small UK space industry companies. I am honoured to be awarded this Fellowship.”

Pat said: “I’m honoured to be elected a Fellow of UKspace and excited to support the UK space sector. By harnessing the strengths of industry, academia and government together, we can achieve remarkable progress.”
