Space Agencies, Ambassadors and Defence Leaders to meet at Space-Comm Expo to ensure the peaceful, secure and sustainable use of space

Space-Comm Expo, taking place at ExCeL London on 11-12 March, today confirmed plans for the largest ever gathering of international space agencies, ambassadors and defence leaders in the UK to support diplomatic efforts for the peaceful, secure and sustainable use of space. The global space diplomacy initiative will take place against a backdrop of increased geopolitical tensions with the future of space dependent on governance and unprecedented levels of international collaboration.

Space-Comm Expo is the UK’s largest space industry event with over 5,000 delegates, 200 exhibitors and 150 speakers from over 50 nations including global leaders and influencers from NASA, ESA, NATO, UN and the UK Space Agency. Keynote speakers include ESA Director General Dr Josef Aschbacher, UK Space Agency CEO Dr Paul Bate and UK Government Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology Peter Kyle MP, alongside ‘rockstar scientist’ Professor Brian Cox, astronaut Tim Peake and Sir Richard Branson via video link from Necker Island.

Registration is free to attend with the event being held in London for the first time and a two-day programme featuring multiple conference theatres, panel discussions and exhibitors showcasing the very latest space technology vital to modern economies, security, communications and Earth observation to protect the planet.

The space diplomacy initiative will take place behind closed doors by invitation only with a roundtable discussion under Chatham House Rules as part of an Ambassador Programme, sponsored by PA Consulting. Discussion points will include: enhancing international cooperation to tackle the challenges of space traffic coordination and mitigate debris; promoting responsible behaviour and transparency for public and private sectors; addressing security concerns and diplomatic efforts to prevent the weaponisation of space; and engaging stakeholders from across government, the commercial sector, science and academia, to promote peaceful and sustainable space activities.

“At PA Consulting, we recognise that the future of space depends on collaboration, innovation, and responsible governance. We are proud to sponsor the Ambassador Programme roundtable, bringing together global leaders to drive meaningful diplomatic efforts for the peaceful, secure, and sustainable use of space,” commented Duhita Govindji, Associate Partner, Europe Space.

“The space diplomacy roundtable and Ambassador Programme will be the first meeting of its kind at Space-Comm Expo with leaders from international space agencies, ambassadors, high commissioners, defence, air and space attaches, addressing the critical role of using outer space in a peaceful and sustainable manner. We look forward to what promises to be an insightful and inspiring discussion,” said Genevieve Richards, Head of Government Relations at Space-Comm Expo.

The award winning Space-Comm Expo is famed for attracting global leaders and influencers from across government, aerospace, defence, business and academia and exhibitors including global primes, SME’s and start-ups. New features to the programme at this year’s event includes investment, legal and insurance symposiums to attract attendees from The City’s square mile, with London a global hub for finance and professional services.

The event will explore some of the biggest challenges and opportunities for the space industry including; spaceports, launch providers, satellite manufacturing, earth observation, AI, robotics, in-orbit servicing and manufacturing, space debris, and missions to the Moon and Mars.

Exhibitors include BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, SaxaVord Spaceport, Skyrora, Telespazio, Siemens, Relm Insurance, Satellite Applications Catapult and UKspace.

Space-Comm Expo is the leading international event series for Europe and the Middle East at world-class venues featuring an ‘out of this world’ experience, at ExCeL London 11-12 March, Dubai World Trade Centre 6-7 October and SEC Glasgow 3-4 December.
