23 January 2017 – Patrick Wood, the CEO of Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), has today become Chair of UKspace, the trade association of the UK space industry. He takes over from Steve Smart who has led UKspace for the past two years.

Patrick Wood said: “It’s a huge honour to take on this role, representing the UK space industry. There is so much outstanding work going on throughout the sector as we collectively aim to consolidate the UK’s position as one of the leading space nations around the world. I’m very much looking forward to the next two years, engaging with members of UKspace and the SME Forum, building the organisation further and promoting the amazing activities taking place.”

Steve Smart, the outgoing Chair of UKspace, added: “I’m delighted to have led the trade association during what has probably been one of the most challenging periods for the space industry. I would like to thank all my colleagues across the sector for their unwavering support to me and the UKspace team.”
