Mapping the UK’s Geospatial Future

27th October 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

The online kick-off event for techUK’s Geospatial Data campaign will feature a 20-minute keynote from Minister Lord True of the Geospatial Commission about how the technology sector can drive forward innovation through collaboration with the UK’s geospatial data market and become a world leader in geospatial data.

Joining the session include industry leaders from the Ordinance Survey, Google, Envitia and BT to share their industry expertise and knowledge from across the geospatial ecosystem.

This session will explore the UK’s geospatial opportunity and navigate why certain industries have been able to adopt geospatial data practices, in use cases such as construction and transportation, and what best practices can be shared to increase understanding of geospatial data for the technology sector. We will also begin to understand where geospatial data can be integrated into other forms of emerging technologies such as digital twins, to drive forward the UK’s position as a world leader in geospatial data.

A panel of industry leaders will address:

  • What is the UK’s geospatial opportunity and what does this mean for the technology sector?
  • What is the role of the technology sector in helping develop the UK geospatial market? Where are areas that technology companies can work with other sectors?
  • What are the biggest challenges or barriers to innovation and how can these issues be addressed.
