UKTI Singapore visit20 October 2014 – UKTI is leading a multi-sector mission targeting Singapore and, for some participants, Malaysia or Indonesia  from 9-13 February 2015. The mission will comprise a cross-sectoral group of companies who wish to follow up on opportunity in Singapore. There will also be the opportunity to meet the wider ASEAN region with an introductory visit to Kuala Lumpur, and/or Jakarta.

The mission will be of particular interest to companies in the space sector, as the mission will coincide with the Global Space & Technology Convention in Singapore from 11-13 February 2015, so the opportunities to join the convention or to meet the increasingly important space sector in Singapore will be important.

Briefings will be held at the High Commission in Singapore on Monday 9 February to cover key aspects of the economy in Singapore and opportunities in the market. There will also be a presentation on opportunities across the wider ASEAN region. Market briefings may also be arranged in Kuala Lumpur and/or Jakarta for those companies visiting those markets. An informal networking reception will also be arranged in Singapore for the evening of Monday 9 February at the Deputy High Commissioners residence, while there will be an informal debrief session at the High Commission on the Friday morning.

Participating companies can set their own programmes with assistance from the UKTI team, according to individual requirements. It is recommended that companies plan their activities as far ahead as possible and make use of the UKTI services available to get the most out of their trip.

Travel grant funding is strictly limited (approximately £730 per eligible company) and on a first come first served basis. In order to secure these grants, the UKTI requires participants’ confirmation by November 14th. UKTI’s overseas post would also require this amount of time to process individual OMIS requests for meetings/introductions etc.

The visit does not confine participants to Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia, and some companies will visit other ASEAN markets whilst in the region

We would stress that this programme is simply a framework and can be flexed as needed to fit client’s needs. Some Space Sector clients may want to be involved in the GSTC conference which takes place during the week.

There will be ample opportunity during the week to meet and work with the team at the High Commissions, Consulates and British Chambers of Commerce

In Singapore, the mission will be based at the Traders Hotel for convenience to the High Commission.  Since the delegates all have different agendas and timings, flight arrangements are left to the individual companies to make. British Airways have offered a discount on fares for Mission travellers.
