UKspace, the trade association of the British space industry, is delighted to announce today that it has signed up to the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter (WIACC).
The Charter is designed for member organisations to show their commitment and support for gender balance at all levels, and enable the progression of women into senior roles in the aviation and aerospace sectors by focusing on the executive pipeline and mid-tier level.
UKspace Director, Lizzie Kerr, said: “Becoming a WIACC signatory today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, is particularly significant for our organisation, recognising the incredible value that women scientists and engineers play across the UK space industry.
“But we also know that there is still plenty to be done in guaranteeing equal opportunities for women in all jobs across the entire sector – from those at the start of their career to those aiming for Board level roles.
“By becoming members of the Charter, we are fully committed to raising the profile of gender balance across the space industry, working with our members and other organisations to identify areas of improvement and make this a reality.”
