15 October 2018 – The Global Space Economic Forum 2018 (GSEF) organized and run by European Space Agency (ESA) will include keynotes from Spacebit founder Pavlo Tanasyuk, who will talk about the applications of blockchain technology for space missions and explore the ideas behind space asset tokenization.
The full agenda can be accessed here. The conference will take place at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the largest ESA center. ESTEC is a prime destination for top management in the space industry, stemming from ESA’s efforts to make Noordwijk a center for innovation and space commercialization activities.
The conference will be opened by the ESA Director General, who will address the forum and provide an overview of ESA’s activities. There are a few topics set to be discussed at the forum including public-private partnerships to increase access to space and cross-cultural initiatives to develop enabling technologies that can lead to the creation of a truly international space agency. This is the first time blockchain technology, as a topic, will be discussed at GESF. Pavlo Tanasyuk’s presentation, ‘Democratizing Outer Space. The Impact of Blockchain Technology on Future Space Missions’ is expected to bring a substantial interest among space industry leaders, as the applications and need for blockchain technology is becoming realized. This is already the case for NASA, who are developing blockchain applications for space.
