29 June 2015 – The Satellite Applications Catapult has launched a Space Business Portal (www.spacebusinessportal.co.uk) – an online facility bringing together information and support mechanisms from many organisations and businesses contributing to the Space industry.
The site has been developed in response to a recommendation of the Space Innovation & Growth Strategy (IGS) Growth Action Plan (GAP), which identified a clear need for a central online signposting facility for space-related information and contacts. The first phase of the site provides information on: Specialist Advice; Skills and Training; Funding; Facilities and Data; and Business Support.
Stuart Martin, CEO of the Satellite Applications Catapult, said: “The Space IGS report clearly noted that in addition to providing stronger support for exports and an improved regulatory framework for space activity, an online resource was required to provide easily accessible information in one place. Such a facility would help grow the sector further.
“On behalf of the Space sector, the Catapult has initiated the development of this facility and is now excited to launch the Space Business Portal. We anticipate it will become an essential up-to-date resource for many people across the industry. Over the coming months, further content will be added to the site – including a toolkit containing useful guidelines, sample documentation and checklists, and a message board – which will add further value to end-users.”
