29 December 2018 – Paul Flanagan, who served as Secretary General of UKspace for 12 years, before retiring in November 2018, has been awarded a CBE for services to the UK space sector, in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for 2019.
Under Paul’s stewardship, the UKspace trade association’s membership grew significantly, while Paul was also one of the main influencers on shaping the government’s space strategy, during which time the UK has become one of the leading space powers globally.
UKspace Chairman, Graham Peters, said: “I’m delighted that Paul’s great contribution to the success of UK’s space sector has been recognised with this honour. It is well deserved.”
