Priorities for UK spectrum policy: competing demands, developing 5G, and the UK’s international role

  • Demand – assessing increasing demand pressures and accommodating long standing frictions between key users, as Ofcom completes consulting on 2.3 and 3.4 GHz awards;
  • Development of 5G – what are the next steps for developing the framework, including the timely allocation of bandwidth and encouraging investment;
  • Management – key issues in allocation and regulation domestically and internationally, as well as priorities for accommodating developments in innovation; and
  • UK policy and international influence – priorities for UK policy within organisations such as CEPT, ETSI and ITU, as well as implications of Brexit and the new UK Parliament.
