The day will consist of sessions describing the current state of Space Propulsion in the UK:
- An overview of the UK propulsion landscape from launchers to cubesats and telecoms to applications
- A report back on the activities of the UK Space Propulsion Working Group
- An overview of the Space Innovation and Growth Strategy and National Space Technology Strategy in relation to space propulsion from the UK Space Agency
- A series of “elevator pitches” from technology providers, universities or potential suppliers – the Ideas Soapbox
- Breakout discussions to build on the technology challenges
The afternoon session will divide the group into the following breakout sessions where new challenges will be identified and set laying the ground for a future propulsion challenge competition to start early-mid 2016
.
- Launchers and spaceport (& technology transfer opportunities for SABRE)
- Chemical Propulsion for orbit transfer
- Electric Propulsion
- National Test facility
- Components
- Novel concepts (e.g. emdrive, propellantless)
Companies or academics who have a relevant technology or programme underway which may solve propulsion challenges can submit their idea ahead of the workshop and then present in a 5 minute Ideas Soapbox session.
