6 June 2018 – British New Space Pioneer Earth-i today announced new senior appointments to help meet the increasing demand for analytics and insights drawn from its high-quality, high-resolution Earth Observation (EO) images and video data.
In January, Earth-i cemented its position at the forefront of the commercialisation of space with the launch of the VividX2 satellite, the service demonstrator for its Vivid-i Constellation. Vivid-i will be the first commercial constellation in the world able to provide full-colour, full-motion video from space showing life on Earth.
The first compilation of videos recorded by VividX2 can be seen on YouTube and demonstrate Earth-i’s ability to deliver an unprecedented level of detail in full motion colour video, whilst also extracting still imagery, to meet an ever-wider range of needs.
In addition to video and still images from its VividX2 satellite, Earth-i is a distributor of still images from the DMC3, KOMPSAT and SuperView Constellations, providing products and services from these data sources and others.
The appointments bring many years of experience and expertise to Earth-i in areas including Earth Observation, technology and geointelligence:
Sean Corbett MBE – Director of Security and Geo-intelligence
Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Sean Corbett joins Earth-i after thirty years’ service as a professional intelligence officer in the RAF. He brings significant operational experience and leadership skills and a deep understanding of the UK defence intelligence environment. He has unparalleled international credentials within the defence intelligence community, having worked at senior levels in NATO and most recently as the first non-US Deputy Director of a US Intelligence Agency. In this role, as Deputy Director for Commonwealth Integration at the Defence Intelligence Agency, Sean focused on the sharing of intelligence between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the US and UK.
At Earth-i Sean will be working with the UK’s Ministry of Defence and other global military and security organisations.
Adina Gillespie – Institutional Strategist
Adina joins Earth-i from Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) where she was Head of EO and Science Applications. At Earth-i she leads key strategic engagements with UK and international governmental organisations and provides strategic advice and guidance to Earth-i’s institutional customers for using insight from space to improve their decision-making.
Adina has also served as an EO specialist at The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the UK (Defra). She also undertook an industry secondment in the Cabinet Office Civil Contingencies Secretariat, where she reviewed the National Risk Register and Risk Assessment for how space could be better used in times of emergency and in COBR. Adina spent five years on the EO Advisory Committee to the UK Space Agency and chaired the Industrial Advisory Group on Commercial EO Regulations for the UK. She is currently on the Satellite Applications Catapult Advisory Group and the Regional Catapult Advisory Board.
